The game of poker involves betting with cards. In most games, you will use a 52-card deck, with four of each card in each of four suits. Its modern form is a combination of the Latin word primero and the French verb “poque”, meaning “to divide.” Players often “buy in” to a game by purchasing chips, each of which is worth a different dollar amount.

The round ends when the player with the best 5-card hand wins the pot. After this, players reveal their cards clockwise around the table. Only the players who have not folded have a chance to win the round. Then, a new round of betting begins, with antes and blinds. In each round, players receive seven cards. In Omaha, players are only allowed to make the best five-card hand. Once the players have their cards, the betting phase begins.
