Poker is a card game in which players bet a fixed amount of money into the pot (the pool of all bets) for the chance to win a large reward. While it requires significant skill, luck and psychology to play well, it is generally regarded as a fair game when played with the correct intentions, based on probability, psychology and game theory.<\/p>\n
Every poker hand consists of 5 cards. The highest-ranking hand wins the pot, or whatever the prize is for that particular hand according to the poker variant being played.<\/p>\n
After each player has received 2 of their hole cards, a round of betting begins, initiated by 2 mandatory bets called blinds put into the pot by the two players to the left of the dealer. Each player then either “calls” that bet, by putting into the pot at least as many chips as the player before them, or they can raise that bet.<\/p>\n
Once all players have acted, the dealer then deals 1 more card face up to each player.
