Poker is a card game that can be played by two or more players. It is typically a fast-paced game with players betting on their hands. Each player has a stack of chips that they can place in the pot when it is their turn. They can also choose to fold if they don\u2019t want to bet.<\/p>\n
A poker hand must consist of at least five cards in order to win the pot. Before each round of betting, players must \u201cante\u201d a small amount (the value of this varies by game), then the cards are dealt in rotation face up. The first player to the left of the dealer may shuffle and offer the shuffled pack to the opponent on their right for a cut, or they can riffle the cards themselves.<\/p>\n
When it is a player\u2019s turn to act, they can either say \u201ccall\u201d or \u201craise.\u201d If they call, they must put the same amount of chips into the pot as the last person. If they raise, they must continue raising in the same increments as the previous player until someone calls them or they all fold.<\/p>\n
Poker can be a game of chance, but over time, applying skill eliminates much of the variance of luck.
